I thought this was a thread about SOPA and PIPA?

I just saw/skimmed through this article recently:
http://www.pcworld.c...e_open_act.html

Obviously (and joey's article was the precursor to this I think), because of the protests SOPA and PIPA caused, these two acts have been stalled, and a new act called the OPEN act is to be reviewed.

more info on OPEN: http://keepthewebopen.com/

Now, to be honest, I haven't really had much of a chance to read through all this... But I will be doing so soon, and figured I would post the information here in case anyone was interested in the proposed replacement for SOPA/PIPA.

They should really just leave things as it is.
Publishing companies annoyance level are at PETA state for me.
Piracy is an unsolvable problem, just like terrorism.
It can never be cured and it is naive thing believe so.

I understand they are losing money, but the movie industry in particular act like they do not make any money from films. IF they really need the money, they should stop frivolously buying off senators.

The internet should stay as it has for the past two decades, there is no need for it to change and I feel any type of change would somehow undermine our rights provided by the constitution.
If they took down Megaupload as easily as they did and things like this happen countless times, are they really that helpless against copyright without a SOPA-like-bill?

SOPA IS COMMUNISM!
