Well yes in away. Marked said most people post things in the spam forum that should not be there. So to this conclusion the staff have been doing their job, but also not. Just because someone posted it in the span forum dosn't make it spam.

Lets look at a few things of some of the type of topics found in the spam forum:

I guess you're right about topics not belonging in that forum.. We'll need to look out for them more.

I've been saying the spam forum is misused for a long time. I even made this topic: Rules and How to use the Spam forum, but it was unsuccessful.

Yes the staff have missed this topics in the spam forum. However, I think the spam forum is evolving into a forum that's in between spam and the cafe. With the occasional really spammy topic. They arn't exactly the most serious of topics, but they arn't exactly spam either. The latest topic for example: http://www.rmxpunlim...lue-episode-10/ This topic does not fall under the purpose/definition of the spam forum. However it's a perfect example of the in between, and I think that's what the forums evolved into. If that's what it takes for members to post their topics, then I say leave things as they are and keep the topics in there.

I didn't think the RvB was serious enough to be put into a different category. There was no real meaning behind it other than the fact that it was funny.

telling from both Marked and rgangsta's posts about RvB being in the Spam forum, I find this debate pointless. It seems Spam has a bit of a grey area to it, and debating over grey is impossible.

Yeah Leon I have to agree with you. I think you disagree about the topic. But my point is that under the rules you can add any of the quotes from Kage Kazumi's above post. The topic has a point of discussion and therefore there to be ruined by pointless posts. Though I don't know much about RvB, this may be a bad example.

Unless anyone has anything further to add, I think we can wrap this topic up. However the original point still stands and we're still cracking down on spam.

No it is not spam. Its a topic of discussion about someone reaching "amount" of posts. As for it becoming a spammy topic...only if the staff was not doing their job or...

Spam can not eveolve. It is either spam or not plain and simple.

Your meaning was that it was funny. Serious or not it had a purpose behind it thus so would the topic with in it self. I watched it and I must disagree that it is spam. Could only be spam if you posted the video with out an explination as to why you did it or if the video was insulting or pornagraphic in nature.

When I said "evolve" I was referring to the forum, not spam itself.

As a law student they teach us a lot about the interpretation of words. There is a grey area simply due to the nature of words. Particularly written definitions. Different people interpret different words differently.

By the way, that link you posted above. Scroll down to "New Zealand". You'll see that a guy from the city I live in was responsible for 1/3 of the worlds spam emails. I think he was only a teenager when he did it too.

I know, and I said spam no matter how much you want to surger coat it is still spam no matter how you look at it. The spam forum is designated for spam and other topics in it that has nothing to do with spam do not belong, thus it can't evolve with topics that are not spam...suger coated or not!

As a WRITER I know this, but words are just words with a preset definition. How someone reads them has nothing to do with spam, just how they interpret the words; lack of knowledge or ignorance is a poor excuse to call something spam.

Perhaps, but laying the hammer down and you would see a lack of it. When helping Heaven to Stone on his forum, the only spam we ever got was random pron images, but never from members. Preset rules and quick response from staff laid the law to members spam was not allowed. Any anyone who was amember knew that the place was relaxed, but spam was never really an issue.

Informing your memebers and taking action when they fail to comply will solve this issues (which you have already started).
