Hey guys,

In approximately 5 hours I am going to change the theme to a new one I have been working on.

This is going to be a trial period for approximately 1 day. After the day is up, I will open up a poll for what members think about the theme. The theme is both the site and forums.

However, the forum skin is pretty much in a "draft" stage. It takes a very long time to skin every section. So the reason I have decided to do a trial period is because I don't have a lot of time, and I'm not going to be completing the skin if it's no going to be used. I have far too much study to do and don't want to waste any time. So there will be a lot of flaws and uncompleted sections, so please do not judge the skin by these as they will be changed if the skin is liked.

The sections that are likely to be uncompleted during the trial period:
-Various colors in topic/forum view
-All of the member profiles
-Settings pages
-Applications(blogs/downloads/gallery, etc. are untested)
-The header (where the logo goes, ill probably do a quick one for the trial)

And also note that the links in the forums menu may not work. In the final release, this will be fixed, but it is not so simple to do.

This topic will be closed for the duration of the trial period, and opened again for voting. So you may post until then.

Feeling sorry for Tomo. I have a question marked is this a glitch :
When i first posted here it showed New Theme by Den13 in recent posts.
When tomo posted it replaced New Theme by Den13 with New Theme by Tomo 2000.

I am vote for new theme... It is really well optimized... In at least it was almost boot 2 times faster.

True, there are some problems with graphics (Graphics sometimes gets out of the image on the none-widescreen monitors)

I like Dark Skis the best, but a nice light skin is cool as well. The old skin was light, but a dull shade of colors used.

I experience some really annoying bugs now. Might be the new theme, I don't know.
The web browser just quits by itself, suddenly. Happens all the time. I had got a new message (a "1" was written on my profile thing) and when I opened the message, the browser decided to quit. Now the message is gone.

Looks like the new theme is the winner...my only concern is the links on the homepage up top (they blend in with the banner)

Call me picky but...SMF uses Themes, MyBB uses Themes. IPB Uses SKINS not themes. Ya...I'm just old fashioned.

I'm pretty confident it isn't skin related. It is basically an edit of the default skin, although a lot edits. Its very unlikely to be the skin.

Yes, I noticed that too. I'm thinking of changing the menu to black, or perhaps I'll just change the banner... Like I said in the original post, I'm running out of free time so I had to upload this skin unfinished and the banner was a quick job. Although now it has been voted in I will try to complete it soon.

I'm relieved at the poll results and glad everyone likes the new look Now is probably a good time to mention that in order to get this working properly, I had to delete the old one...

Ok, I will try to complete this skin as quickly as possible now that it's decided that we're going to use it.

Oh, by the way. To do a theme integration we have to use the menu from the website. Therefore a lot of links to forum components are missing at the moment. It's kinda complicated but all you really need to know is that the menu is going to change to suit both the website and forums, but I can only do this once I get a certain mod to work which will fix all the broken links this will create. So, new menu links, soon.

hmm... it happens whenever I open a specific conversation that I really need to open. You know how to fix it?

How troublesome.. I'm not sure how to fix it. Really only when you open a conversation on this site? That's strange, I got no hunches at the moment

For the chat, there's a link on the homepage, at the top.

Yeah guys I've been really busy and got tons to do on the site.

I suppose I should explain this. The forums links have gone and been replaced with the websites main menu. That's fine, as long as I add them in, right? Well the thing is that I want to rework the entire menu. However, links on the website are created by the menus, so if i move something, the link will change. This will create dead pages, meaning a loss of traffic, and y'know, we need that. There is a mod which will let me redirect dead links, and also make awesome friendly urls (only an admin would call it awesome) but it is being troublesome and breaking some of my components.

Once I get the mod working i will rearrange the menus. In the meantime, I will add another menu item to bring back some forum links. I will also place the top menu of the website on the forums.

You can still get to the missing links (gallery/Tutorial, etc). Just go to a members profile who has submited stuff and click something that shows they submited it. Then from there just navigate the Gallery, Tutorial, etc. At least untill Marked fixes it.

I know you are still working on the new skin Marked. One thing I noticed I don't know if anyone else has. Or maybe they don't have a problem with it. But, the new post icon on the forums I think is to light. It doesn't stand out as much as it should. Its hard to tell which forums have new posts and which ones don't. That is my two cents on that matter.


Also, I would call friendly url's awesome too . Might be because I have been an admin in the past though. lol

Yeah you're right. I think I will alter the color of the rows though to make them stand out.

There actually seems to be this weird thing were content isn't marked as read. The index would look much better if the icons would change once in a while like they should... but maybe its just me.

I did some work yesterday with the menu, and i got the all mighty mootools working. Basically that means i got menu effects that you see on the website (all slidy and stuff) to work on the forum menu, but unfortunately I had to disable the forum javascript. So at this stage, I can't see the menu on the forum getting those nice effects.

Also in the future, I will transfer the user navigation (box to the right in the header) to the website so that it's global, and I'll also do something with the websites top menu and make it global as well. Should look cool. The look has a long long way to go, and hopefully I'll get through it soon......
