Tomorrow I will be pruning all the modifications on the forum in an attempt to clean up the database, which will hopefully make it run better.

The main reason is the forum lag, which was posted about here:

It will also get rid of the unused modifications that no one uses. The downloads, blogs and gallery will remain.

These modifications were going whether I remove them now or not, so its inevitable they go. I have an upgrade planned which will delete everything except the essential data(posts, topics, members etc.). But since I don't when this will happen yet, I'm not announcing anything.

Now there is something you guys should take a note of. Attempting to remove all database modifications can be a risky task, and anything could really happen. I did it once successfully in 2007, but the database was a lot smaller and there were fewer members on it. I'll make a backup, but if something does go wrong with the database, it may take a couple of days to restore. What I'm expecting to happen is I run the database optimization script, test the forums to see what happened, get a random error, then fix the random error. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I'll have to re-upload the files again because some edits of original files rely on the database. Therefor there will be approximately an hour of downtime, if things go well. Worse case scenario, well it can take a long time to restore, especially since the amount of data has probably trippled since I did it last.

Alright guys, I've decided to leave for a month. You guessed it, exam time. Unfortunately I find it necessary to separate myself from this forum in order to get in enough study.

This time is a little different. Im out of highschool now, and the next chance I get to pass these exams is in a years a time at the cost of thousands of dollars if im not kicked out of my house for failing. Thats what they motivate me with...

My last exam is on the 23rd of June, so expect me back then. I got a semester break and a whole bunch of updates to follow, as promised.

I'll check the forums reasonably often, but probably not from my own computer. If anyone has any study tips for me, please post them below. Our educational system is so corrupt that it wasn't absolutely necessary for me study THAT hard up until this point...

Also, fixing the lag problem would be AWESOME. That way I could finally use the index to find new posts to reply to.

Change of plans....

Something had happened to the website and I'm really unsure what it is. Today I will try to fix it, and that's probably all I will be able to do today, so the database thing won't happen today.

And yes Kiriashi, we will definitely be back. The only thing I need to restore a forum is about 6 database tables, and I have a lot of backups.

EDIT: The website has been fixed. The mod prune will be done later today.

Thats good that everything is working again. That would suck if you had to re-do the whole entire site.

Ha, yeah, that wouldn't happen. The days where I have that amount of free time are gone until I retire. In about 50 years.

Luckily everything can be recovered from a database.

Just so everyone knows, the database thing failed. Ironically a ISP Driver error occurred and was unable to continue. Too broken to be fixed at the moment. Unfortunately the lag is here for a while longer, but after I get back I'll be gone.

Well i would say the way i like to study is to get into a area where no one is at and read through the chapter's a few times and try to answer some question from the book if there are any or make up your own questions before you read. Make you bring nothing to distract you.

Study for about 50 minutes, then rest for about 10 minutes (go have a snack, or a soda) then go back to studying. That way you won't overload your brain when you have to study for exams.

Good luck with the exams, They take up so much time from game making it is evil. However they are needed, I am just glad my midterms finally ended and I can relax on the studying stuff for a few weeks. Anyway, do well, try hard, and if it seems boring, make it fun. That normally helps for me at least, don't get off task though that dropped my grades in 10th grade, and why I can never finish cleaning my room.

There is lag with the forums? I will try a database optimise and repair (It will not harm the database, but I will back it up anyway).

EDIT: I have just repaired and optimised the database, it should run faster now.
